Yesterday we took Dexter to get a hearing test done. He has perfect hearing in his right ear. Now, in his left ear, they did a bone conduction test, where they vibrate the bone behind his ear with sound waves. It tests the inner ear. Guess what... he has hearing! Then they put an ear phone over that ear and when they did that, he didn't hear anything, meaning he might not have the middle ear parts such as an ear drum or the other parts that deliver the sound to the inner ear. The only way to truely know, is if they did a scan of some sort.
With that, they make a type of hearing aid that they would screw into the bone that would make it vibrate and send sound down to the inner ear. It would help him differentiate between background noise and foreground noise, meaning if you were talking to him in a loud noisy place, he could pick your voice out better. If we did this, it wouldn't be till he was older. We will see what happens. He has another hearing test at the end of this month and we'll find out more information then.
We also had a WIC appointment and they weighed and measured him. He weighs 9 pounds even and is 21 inches long. He is doing so good!
Also, I just love that picture of him. Yes, he is in a pink boppy, but he loves it!
