The Jenks Family: First Stop Thermop!

At the end of May, we had the opportunity of going to Thermopolis and South Dakota. We packed up the car as full as we could possibly make it and left in the wee hours of the morning. It was a long 15 hour drive but so very worth it. On our way there, Ash had apparently placed the bread too close to Juliette. She had about 4 slices in her hands, just as content as could be munching on all of them. It was pretty darn funny.

We stopped in Cheyenne and ate lunch at a fun little park there. We played while it sprinkled rain, had boat races, and just had a fun time stretching our legs.

We made it to Thermopolis and had a great time. The boys had fun together. They each had their moments of enough of each other, but over all, really enjoyed their time together. Dex didn't want to leave at all.

Orion is such a ham and quite the little talker/movie quoter already. My favorite thing he said: He came up and was just going on about something, I don't know what, but he suddenly looked up at me a said, "Oh guys, I think I'm loosing my mind!" and ran off. Hilarious!

Here the boys were playing in the dirt. We were there just before they got their lawn sodded. Dex enjoyed building sand castles and digging up dinosaur bones in all that beautiful red dirt.

We also finally got to meet this handsome fella.

Apollo is so sweet. He gave me a few smiles, but not like Uncle Ashton got. Mmm, love that red headed little one!

Before the rest of Ashton's family joined us in Thermop, we had a couple of days of just us there. We went geocaching behind the fire station, just a short walk from their home.

While we were walking, Juliette kept trying to hold Apollo's hand. He wasn't very happy being in the stroller though. He just wanted his momma.

We also got to see London's solar bike race. He and a few students built this solar bike and had a race with some other students. Sadly, his bike wasn't as successful as they would have liked, but still pretty awesome at the same time.

While at the race we got to play on some swings before it started to rain.

We also got to go swimming in the warm hot springs pool. It was fun. Dex braved the tall water slide, Juliette enjoyed herself in her float, and it was nice just be in the water. On our way back home we saw these natural formations near by the pool and Dex goes, "look! It's a muddy watermelon rock"! LOVE that kid!

Here are where my pictures start lacking. I just started taking pictures with London and Alissa's camera and we haven't swaped pics yet. Ashton's family all came except Devon and Kayla. Grandpa and Grandma Hansen even joined in. It was so nice to see everyone and everyone got to finally meet Jules.

We went to Thermop's dinosaur museum. Next time we go, i'd like to go on a dig that they offer. As a kid, I always wanted to be a paleontologist. I loved dinosaurs and digging in dirt.

While there, Juliette figured out Daddy's nice earhold. I remember Dex doing the exact same thing. See it here.

Dex loved this little jeep. He was actually quite the little hog and stinker about, too. I think he was, because there is a jeep at the zoo that he rarely gets to play on because bigger kids are always on it. So when he saw this, he wasn't letting anyone take it away from him. Anywho, he was hilarious to watch drive, fix, load, whatever his little imagination created around this truck. I loved this pic. Especially Crayson's mad race on the triceratops :)
